Bedlam in Beirut?

It is funny how your perspective changes something. Israel invaded Lebanon. Well, good for them. They should be able to stand up for what’s right. But wait a minute. This story hits closer that it might seem. A group of people from our church – our senior pastor and nine others – are sitting in a hotel in Beirut, Lebanon right now wondering if they are going to be able to get out of the newly volatile area. They went over there to do some mission work. Our church is supporting a Baptist church in Beirut and the need for Christ is huge in that part of the world. They have been there since Sunday and will shorten their trip to come back tomorrow if they can get out. Trouble is, if you have been paying attention to the news, that Israel is demanding the return of two of their troops that were taken by Hezbollah. (Did I spell that right?) It seems that Israel has blown up the runways at the airport so their captured troops could not get taken to Iran. At least that is what I read. Israel is threatening to escalate further. Anyway, our people are safe for the time being but all of this makes me a bit nervous. Your prayers for these ten people are certainly needed. I will keep you in the loop.
